How important is connection?
Connection = a relationship in which a person, thing, or idea is linked or associated with something else. (according to Google)
I believe that when dealing with any form of depression (As I'm currently in the midst of) . . . connection is something that is deperately needed. Without connecting to friends or being within a social environment, we can find ourselves in a deeper funk, in a place of deep despair, in a space of lack.
Connection helps us smile, when we haven't.
Connection helps us feel valued.
Connection gives us meaning.
And the list goes on . . .
I believe that true connection is a healing component; It changes our mood. It allows us to "make it through one more day."
We yearn for it and when we don't have, don't get it, or can't obtain it . . . our psyche is heavily influenced by it.
While experiencing depression (I'm currently in isolation), I've felt connected to others, through random FaceTime calls, weekly sessions with my therapist, & chatting/debating on Clubhouse. And even though, I decided to take a break from social media . . . fear and anxiety has kept me from being a part of society. However, I'm confident that every week I'll receive an extra boost! . . . because of CONNECTION . . . with someone else.
Where are the spaces you feel safe to connect? And who are the people that keep you uplifted?
