moveDIPR management is another platform initiative that Dionna PridGeon started in 2017, with the help of moveDIPR alum; The MDM alum willingly participated during our pilot venture. This initiative grew as a result of the success from the MD Apprenticeship & Coaching Programs. mDm was a way to further develop the tools & desires of artists, past the initial program requirements - a way to cater to the needs of hectic schedules, cultivate/personalize connections, but also providing emotional support & guidance. The MDM pilot helped to acknowledge every challenge along the way, but more importantly, continue the learning and growth process. moveDIPR embodies more than dance training & with moveDIPR management, "being an artist is about presenting a deeper side of yourself - the Full Package! What's the difference between a MANAGER & an AGENT ?!?!
- An agent works for a talent agency that is licensed by the state and in some cases, franchised by the union. That gives them the legal right to solicit employment for their clients. It also allows agents to negotiate contracts.
- Managers do not have to be employed by a management company. They can work on their own. Managers are not allowed to set up auditions or negotiate contracts.
- By law, an agency must work out of an office. A manager can work from anywhere.
- A manager’s client list is much smaller. In theory, that allows them to give their clients more personal attention.
- A manager offers career guidance and helps you find an agent, helps organize and advance the career of a talented individual.
- A good manager can give you that TLC that you might not get from a bigger talent agency.
