#mentalhealthmonday

It's ok to not be ok, right?
Well . . . I'm not ok.

However, I'm aware and have the tools that'll get me to a calm place or calmer place today. For example,
  • when I woke up, I went straight to the affirmation app I like (It's not a lame/cliché/or toxic positivity one lol) - I can either relate to the affirmations sent to me or it asks me questions that allow me to process the answers. (I AM)
  • I prayed for the 1st time in YEARRRRSSSSSSS and was honest with my disbelief, in understanding why my life is currently where it is right now aka my bitterness. I honestly said to "god" that it's hard for me to find gratitude in this moment. I don't understand why I've inspired students all cross the world, but this is not being taken into account and why are people who harmed me thriving and not held accountable  I was honest with "god." (usually I do 5 min of silent meditation and breathing, but today I decided to pray)
  • I haven't checked my email or social media yet (you know this is HUGE)
  • And I started to write this blog :)
  • Next I will get a little nourishment  (my stomach is growling lol), while I finish listening to a message by Sarah Jakes Roberts (on YouTube)
  • THEN, I will check my email and social media lol, all before I have my therapy session

So what am I saying?
I'm saying that it's SO important to check in with where we REALLY are. Yesterday, I felt empowered, but last night I felt broken and today, I chose to start my day off with checking in with myself.

My suggestion to you on #mentalhealthmonday would be to REALLY check in on YOU. Instead of being so available to others, compartmentalizing or distracting yourself (aka ignoring your emotions). CHECK IN, better yet CHECK WITHIN, that's where you'll become more aware of yourself and begin to understand "what do I need right now?"

Personally, what I need is . . . a positive change to happen in my life again, my life for a year has been full of so much loss (heartbreak, betrayal, financial insecurity, etc)

I genuinely ask: What do YOU truly need?
