Being a dance teacher IS and ISN'T about being seen . . .

You would probably ask why, since the majority of our experience is about being as visible as possible, in order to gain trust amongst our community, as well as gain the interest of students for our classes . . .

Let me tell you. YES, you are right, BUT!. . .

There's always a 'but' btw lol

In this time of 'working on myself and my healing' . . . And as a person with a teaching background that expands through 17 years . . . I decided to remove myself from social media, I decided to remove myself from the Arts community, I decided to cry alone in my apt, I decided to deeply reflect on my past negative experiences, I decided that even though others view me as invaluable and worthless (as a person), I'm understanding that my students never saw me in that way; They saw the beauty in ME, my teaching, my worth, my value.

So, as much as not being seen can hurt your SM algorithm lol or others can really hurt your feelings . . . YES! hurt your feelings so bad that you "think" that you're worthless, no good enough, not popular enough . . .

YOU ARE NOT!

Here's a hashtag you don't hear
a lot . . . #yourstudentsmatter and if you love them, believe in them, wanna see them grow and always leave them with the best version of you . . . Being unseen for a while. . . may be the best for YOU & THEM! You can't always give your best, if you aren't at your best, right?

The 'best version' means that your students need both the visible/strong/go-getter you, but they also need the authentic/empathetic/vulnerable side of you too!

So, I'm taking care of my mental health right now, so I can share my story more authentically and so, I can be THE BEST TEACHER I CAN BE! (cliché army commercial lol) BUT! You get my drift!

Just wait until they see you again . . . you'll be unstoppable and you'll actually have something to offer . . . the YOU that matters most!

THE BEAUTY FROM THE ASHES . . .

My advice = YOU DECIDE, Social Media and others' views can't decide for you. Your students will see you again :)

~ deeply out ❤
